P.A.Q.

Preguntas Probablemente Hechas.

No frecuentemente. Todavía no hemos corrido suficientes eventos como para que algo sea frecuente. Estas son las preguntas que creemos que estás a punto de hacer, y nuestro intento honesto de responderlas.

Q01

¿Quién está detrás de esto? (¿Quién es el Imagineer?)

Il cappo di tutti capi… Don Delfino. Not the focus, but if you're curious: pedro-delfino on LinkedIn ↗. He started this company with the ever-standing support of his high school friend, instagram.com/lucasplaining ↗, aka the Consiglière, the Aspone, the Doc.

Q02

¿Qué quieres decir con un club de fitness social caótico?

A bit nerdy: Dungeons & Dragons sorts personalities on a 3×3 grid, you've seen the “lawful-good” / “chaotic-evil” meme. Le Day Club is chaotic-good: we will absolutely colour outside the lines, but we will help you up after the tug-of-war and learn your name. Think of the alignment of someone who jaywalks to return your dropped wallet. Order is overrated; kindness isn't. Source ↗

Q03

¿Esto es para ligar?

No. See Manifesto principle 08. If two people click over a tug of war and exchange numbers, we're not going to stop them.

Q04

¿Esto es una secta?

Not yet.

Q05

¿Tengo que ser atlético?

You need to be the kind of person who'd rather burn calories to meet new people than go (again) to a late, loud, expensive, drug-oriented club. Someone who picks sleeping early over closing the bar. Basic fitness, not CrossFit Games.

Q06

¿Y si llueve?

We play rain or shine at Parc La Fontaine. If the forecast looks brutal, we'll let everyone know by 9 AM the day of.

Q07

¿Hay alcohol?

Not on site. What Le Day Club is actually selling is naturally released endorphins (from sport) and oxytocin (from real socializing). No liquor means no licence, no alcohol taxes, lower friction for everyone, and longevity-friendly by default. The after-party can have whatever it wants, that's its own thing.

Q08

¿Por qué $30? (¿Y por qué el evento de Community Founders fue $15?)

Price varies by venue, vibe, and theme. The Community Founders event (#0) was $15, half off as a smaller first run. A regular park-format event is around $30. A karting / speeder / themed event will run more (venue fees pass through). We tell you the price before you commit. If money is the only thing in the way, ask about a voucher.

Q09

¿Puedo traer un amigo?

Ask first. Everyone is a 1st- or 2nd-degree contact of the Imagineer, which means your 1st-degree friend counts as 2nd-degree to us. Usually a yes. Still ask.

Q10

No estoy en el círculo del Imagineer. ¿Aun así puedo ir?

DM @ledayclub and tell us who you are. If you're the kind of person who'd fit, we'll say yes.

Q11

¿Cómo me visto?

Athletic clothes you can sweat in. Layers for outdoors. No heels, no loafers, no statement pieces that won't survive a rope burn.

Q12

¿Puede venir mi perro / mi abuela / mi niño chico?

Dogs no. Grandmas theoretically yes, practically no, the format is rougher than it sounds. Toddlers no.

Q13

¿Y si me apunto y no puedo ir?

Tell us. Refunds before the event, no guilt-trip.

Q14

¿Por qué "Le Day Club" y no "The Day Club"?

Short version: we want to dismantle the dying industry around The Night Club. Trade the sticky room, can't-hear-your-friends, regret-tomorrow format for sun, sweat, real talking, and faces you remember in the morning. The "Le" is the Montreal bilingual joke we keep telling ourselves, a French definite article on an English noun, the way you say "je m'en vais au gym, let's go." We own theday.club too, redirect coming.

Q15

¿Y el evento Beach Time?

Tech nerds start counting on zero, so May 23 was the Community Founders event (#0). Next up is the Soccer edition (#1), riding the World Cup window, then Beach Time (#2). Dates for both are TBD. Same template across all three, different themes. Format on #1 and #2 stays mystery until closer.

Q16

¿Por qué hay versión en portugués?

The Imagineer is a good son and calls his parents often. They're curious about what he's building and their English is limited. Also, Portuguese is badass. And we dream big, events are already being discussed in other cities across North America, South America, and Europe. From MTL to the rest of the galaxy.

Q17

¿Te inspiras en XKCD?

Yeah. The Imagineer doesn't look like a nerd, but he's a black belt one. Tip of the hat to XKCD.

Are you a nerd?

Want the long version?

The homepage is the TL;DR. If you want to know why this exists, the nitty-gritty details, what we actually believe, and who we're hiring, here are the deeper docs.
